Ajwa dates come from Madinah, Saudi Arabia — they're small, nearly black, soft and mildly sweet with a fruity, prune-like note. Medjool dates are large, plump and very sweet with a rich caramel flavour, making them a favourite for gifting.
Keep them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Soft dates like Medjool and Mazafati stay freshest refrigerated; nuts keep longer in the fridge too.
